Our verdict

Intuit AI is worth using if you already pay for QuickBooks or TurboTax, because the agents sit where your data already lives and can take real actions such as drafting invoices. You cannot buy it on its own, the best features depend on your plan, and the headline results come from Intuit itself. Treat it as a fast assistant and check everything before you send or file it.

AI help for bookkeeping, invoicing and taxes

Intuit AI is the everyday name for the AI that Intuit has built into QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma and Mailchimp. Intuit calls the layer Intuit Intelligence. It is not a separate app you download. It is a set of AI agents that categorize transactions, draft invoices and reminders, answer questions about your money and, since July 2026, work from inside Claude and ChatGPT.

This Intuit AI review explains what each part does, what it costs and where the claims need a pinch of salt. We looked at Intuit's Intuit Intelligence page, its own blog and news summaries. We did not run our own books through it, so anything we could not read on an official page is marked reported.

If you only want a general AI chat for money questions, ChatGPT or Claude will do that without a QuickBooks subscription. If you want help with a personal budget instead of business books, see our guide to the best AI tools for personal finance.

Key Intuit AI features

AI Agents Inside QuickBooksAgents categorize transactions, draft invoices and overdue reminders, and answer questions about cash flow, payroll and sales, with Intuit experts available when you need a human.
QuickBooks in Claude and ChatGPTA QuickBooks connector in Claude and a plugin in ChatGPT can now create and send invoices, look up payroll details and compare loan options through conversation.
One AI Across Four ProductsIntuit says Intuit Intelligence powers QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma and Mailchimp, so the same data and agents follow you between them.

What stands out

  • It acts, not just answersIntuit says its new connector goes beyond read-only access, so you can ask for an invoice and have it created and sent, with you reviewing it first.
  • It sits on your real booksThe agents work from the transactions already in QuickBooks, which is a better starting point than pasting numbers into a general chatbot.
  • Human help is one step awayIntuit pairs the AI with experts, so categorization is automated while bookkeepers and tax pros handle the filing.

What to consider

  • You cannot buy it aloneThere is no standalone Intuit AI plan, so the real price is your QuickBooks or TurboTax subscription, and capacity limits depend on the tier.
  • Headline results are Intuit's ownThe 18% revenue claim and the four days faster payment claim come from a customer survey and internal data that Intuit commissioned or ran.
  • Limits and naming are murkyThe chat is described as a limited-capacity beta, extra prompts cost more, and Intuit Assist and Intuit Intelligence appear side by side on its own pages.

What Intuit AI Is and How It Is Packaged

Intuit does not sell a product called Intuit AI. The company talks about Intuit Intelligence, which its page describes as the intelligence "powering every product". You will still see the older name Intuit Assist in places: a footnote on the Intuit Intelligence page refers to "Intuit Assist customers". Sources we found disagree on whether this was a rename or an umbrella above Intuit Assist, so we treat them as one family. Underneath sits Intuit's in-house AI platform, GenOS (reported).

The table shows where the AI turns up. We only went deep on QuickBooks, because that is where Intuit publishes specifics.

ProductWho It Is ForWhat We Could Check
QuickBooksSmall businessesAgents, invoicing, payroll, Claude and ChatGPT
TurboTaxIndividuals filing taxesNamed by Intuit, features not tested
Credit KarmaPersonal finance usersNamed by Intuit, features not tested
MailchimpEmail marketersFeature access varies by plan, per Intuit

That is why this Intuit AI review spends most of its time on QuickBooks. For the other three we can confirm Intuit says its AI is part of them, and no more.

What the AI Does Inside QuickBooks

On its Intuit Intelligence page Intuit groups the QuickBooks features into a few jobs. In plain words, the AI is meant to do the repetitive bookkeeping so you only see the exceptions.

  • Categorizing transactions: the page says "AI categorizes transactions. Experts file the details," so the books stay current without you sorting every line.
  • Invoicing "done-for-you": AI-drafted invoices and invoice reminders aimed at the end-of-month crunch and at getting paid sooner.
  • Forecasting: Intuit invites you to ask questions, see how different decisions play out, and have Intuit Intelligence "take action for you".
  • Agents by job: reported summaries describe separate agents for accounting, payments, sales tax and customers, with more of them on higher plans.

This is a sensible list, and it matches the way small firms actually lose time. The catch is that every one of these needs a person to confirm the result. An AI that mislabels a single large expense can change your profit figure for the month, so our Intuit AI review treats categorization as a draft, not a final answer.

QuickBooks in Claude and ChatGPT

The biggest recent change is where you can use it. In an Intuit blog post from July 28, 2026, the company said its QuickBooks connector in Claude and plugin in ChatGPT now do more than read your data. It describes this as moving beyond read-only access, so you work with your books through conversation.

AreaWhat You Can Ask For
InvoicingCreate, update, send and delete invoices; duplicate one as a starting point
Recurring and remindersSet up, pause and resume scheduled invoices; send overdue reminders
Payments and customersGenerate payment links, create customers, download invoices as PDFs
PayrollWho is on payroll, payslip history, whether you are ready to run payroll
LendingAnonymized peer loan benchmarks from QuickBooks Capital

Setup is short. In Claude you open Connectors, search for QuickBooks and pick it. In ChatGPT you open the Intuit QuickBooks plugin, sign in to QuickBooks and start a chat. Intuit's own example is to ask for an invoice for last week's consulting work, review it and send it, all in one conversation.

Two cautions. First, anything that can send an invoice can send a wrong one, so read it before you approve; that is the main rule in this Intuit AI review of the connectors. Second, these chats now sit next to your accounting data, so check the permissions the connector asks for and the data settings of the assistant you use. Reported coverage also says Intuit has a multi-year partnership with Anthropic to let mid-market firms build custom agents inside Intuit Enterprise Suite, which we have not seen in action.

What Intuit AI Costs and Where the Limits Are

The honest answer in any Intuit AI review of pricing is that there is no separate price, because the AI comes with your subscription. The list prices below come from search summaries of Intuit's pricing, since we could not load the QuickBooks pricing page from our test setup. Treat them as reported and check the current offer before you buy.

QuickBooks PlanList PriceAI Notes (Reported)
Simple Start$38 a monthLimited-capacity chat beta
Essentials$85 a monthMore agents than Simple Start
Plus$140 a monthMore agents again
Advanced$340 a month25 finance-agent questions a month

The same summaries say the chat is a beta with limited capacity on every plan, and that you can buy an extra prompt add-on for $10 a month. Whether the free QuickBooks plan includes any of this is unclear: one summary said yes, another said no, so we left it out of the table.

Human help costs extra. Reported prices put QuickBooks Live full-service bookkeeping at $500 for the first month of cleanup, then $200, $400 or $600 a month depending on your monthly expenses, and TurboTax Live filing from $169.

Accuracy, Mistakes and Your Data

Most of what Intuit says about results is a company statement, and an Intuit AI review should say so plainly. That does not make it false, but it is not independent. Here is how we read the main claims.

ClaimWhere It Comes FromOur Read
Revenue grew 18% on averageSurvey commissioned by Intuit, September 2025Customers' own view, not a controlled test
Paid 4 days faster with remindersIntuit data, March 2025 to March 2026Compared with ordinary reminders only
78% say AI helped productivityIntuit's 2026 AI Impact ReportCompany-run survey of US businesses

Practical habits matter more than any of these numbers. The NIST AI Risk Management Framework is a good reminder that AI output needs checking and that a person stays responsible for the result. For finances, that means:

  • Review categories each month, especially large or unusual items.
  • Approve every invoice before it goes to a customer.
  • Keep your accountant in the loop for tax filings and payroll.
  • Limit what you connect to outside assistants to what you actually need.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has plain guidance on managing business finances, which is worth reading alongside any AI tool.

Who Should Use Intuit AI

The short answer from this Intuit AI review is that it suits people already inside Intuit's products and is a weak reason to move to them. This table matches common situations to our advice.

SituationOur Advice
Already on QuickBooks OnlineTry the agents and the Claude or ChatGPT link, with review on
Choosing accounting softwarePick on features and price, not the AI alone
Want a human to do the booksLook at QuickBooks Live, and ask what the AI does
Personal budget onlyA personal finance app or a general chatbot is simpler
Enterprise or custom workflowsAsk Intuit about Enterprise Suite and its Claude agents

If your main need is questions answered rather than books kept, you can get a long way with a general assistant. Our guide to AI tools for personal finance compares options that do not need a business subscription.

Final verdict

This Intuit AI review comes down to fit. If you already run your books in QuickBooks or file with TurboTax, Intuit Intelligence is a practical addition: it takes on categorizing, invoicing and reminders, and the new Claude and ChatGPT link lets you do real work by chat. But there is no standalone plan, the AI chat is described as a limited beta, and the best numbers come from Intuit itself. Try it on your current plan, keep review switched on and hold on to a human bookkeeper or accountant for anything that really matters.

Frequently asked questions

What is Intuit AI?

It is the everyday name for Intuit Intelligence, the AI layer inside QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma and Mailchimp. It is not a separate product you can download or subscribe to alone.

Is Intuit AI the same as Intuit Assist?

They are closely related. Intuit Assist is the older name and still appears on Intuit pages, while Intuit Intelligence is the broader name. Sources disagree on whether it was a formal rename, so we treat them as one family.

How much does Intuit AI cost?

There is no separate price. It comes with your QuickBooks or TurboTax subscription. Reported QuickBooks Online list prices are $38, $85, $140 and $340 a month, with a $10 a month add-on for extra prompts.

Is there a free plan?

Intuit does not sell a free Intuit AI plan. Whether the free QuickBooks plan includes any AI features is unclear from the sources we found, so check Intuit before relying on it.

Can I use QuickBooks inside ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Intuit says there is a QuickBooks plugin in ChatGPT and a connector in Claude, and in July 2026 it added invoicing, payroll lookups and loan benchmarking. You connect your QuickBooks account and sign in.

Can Intuit AI send invoices for me?

In Claude and ChatGPT it can create and send invoices and payment links, but you should read each one before approving. Intuit describes the flow as asking for the invoice, reviewing it and then sending it.

Does Intuit AI replace a bookkeeper or accountant?

No. Intuit pairs the AI with human experts, and the AI can still miscategorize items. Keep a person responsible for payroll, tax filing and month-end checks.

Are Intuit's results claims reliable?

They come from Intuit, from a survey it commissioned and from its own data, so they are not independent. Treat the 18% revenue and four days faster payment figures as marketing claims rather than tested results.

Is Intuit AI worth it?

In our Intuit AI review, yes if you already use QuickBooks, because it costs nothing extra on your plan. It is not a good reason to switch accounting software by itself.
